No Opinions on Korrasami
I’ve never watched The Last Airbender or Korra, but a lot of my friends do, so I’m just sitting there while they have strong opposing opinions on the whole Korrasami thing…
And I’m just sitting there going :I

shipping is a funny idea. I watched all of the Avatars, including Korra and wouldn’t have put those two together. But that brings a bigger picture to light, a bigger food for thought:
From what I saw, Korra and Asami are shipped because of subliminal normal dialogue, like women calling their friends “girlfriends”. I won’t get into details, but the social integration of homosexuality into the mainstream has now hit how we view friendships.
Growing up, and you might have saw this too, A hero could never save the princess and just stayed friends. It was bothersome when Mark would save Sally for his best friend Mike and step aside after having a massive adventure to save her. The hero always got the girl. I think that’s what’s happening here and it is interesting on a…. over-thinking things kinda thing to think that when we thought “Jane saved Sally, they will be best of friends!” We now think that there must be more.
My question to psychology is why do we need to see romance on the screen so much? Have we been socially engineered to think that the hero always gets the girl? Or does it go deeper into socially engineering men to take a stand and protect the women that they value in their lives from an early age to make honorable men, which now has created a side effect of saying the Hero, rather than the guy? Or yet, is it all based on our social insecurities in our own lives trying to find hope so that we can finally gather the courage to ask our crushes out?
Personally, if it is the second one, I’d like do say “Well met Disney! Well met!” But I digress. What do you think?
“I’ve never watched The Last Airbender or Korra, but a lot of my friends do, so I’m just sitting there while I have strong opposing opinions on the whole Korrasami thing…”
Um, can you clarify by what you mean when you say “opposing”?
