The Ice cream and chocolate trick?
It is said that when your girlfriend is upset, DON’T TRY AND FIX THE PROBLEM… they want to be heard, their feelings to be validated, and if you need to solve the problem… the solution is either chocolate, ice cream or chocolate ice cream.
In this case, don’t point out that Violet isn’t certified, or the legal ramifications that might occur because of this, or tell her “just quit”. Peter should also avoid relating her troubles with his day or life, or, as he learned, don’t ask questions based on Violet’s answers. Best thing to do is saying “Want me to bring over some :ice cream, chocolate… or possibly pizza might work….” and do so…
