“You are what you eat” is more a reference to the quality you eat, the value that you eat more than what you eat per say.
Trust me, I was one of those kids that tried being an Oscar Meyer Wiener.
Sorry you had a rough day. Hope things get better.
In a way, we actually ARE sugar-based life forms. It’s one step away from being the basic unit of cellular energy. (Sugar molecules are broken down to “charge up” ATP, the molecule which powers everything any of your cells do.) And it’s a hydrocarbon – an organic molecule. We refer to life on Earth as “carbon-based” precisely because so many of the key functions of cellular biology depend on permutations of the complex molecules you can build with a carbon “backbone.” Sugar is a common and important example.
(Side note: Yes, that’s what “organic” actually means. There is no such thing on Earth as a plant or animal that is not organic.)
SCIENCE!
