I guess I shouldn’t judge as I haven’t seen it…. Ever felt like a bad person for not partaking in the viewing of the next biggest movie/tv show craze? Like Twilight, Harry Potter, Dr Who, Bioshock….
Ehh, I’m a big critic anyway on movies and tv shows, however if I haven’t watched one, I’ll read up on it to at least get the cliff’s notes. I’ve decided that I’ll never see Twilight, mostly because when I tried to watch it on my computer, the computer literally shut itself off after 10 minutes of me watching it. I hate Harry Potter, for personal reasons, so automatically that opinion is coloured jaded, and I tell people this all the time. Doctor Who is actually a great show, before and after the reboot, and I recommend it; but you don’t have to watch the old old stuff the get what’s happening in the show, watching from the beginning of the reboot is fine. And the newest season of Doctor Who is actually pissing me off, since I’m 99% positive that Steven Moffat wants to end the series with Matt Smith, which is annoying since there’s supposed to be at least 3 more Doctors after Smith…And I’ve probably confused you.
I am used to show reviews confusing me. by my guess, Smith is an arc in the Doctor Who series… You are upset because the director wants to end the series a few arcs or seasons short. I hate when that happens. I hope if it does, that the actor who plays Dr Who actually takes up the roll as director. I am quite pleased at how Yannick Bisson directed the series Murdoch Mysteries. I love that show!!!!
Doctor Who is about an alien called “The Doctor”, who travels around the universe of all space and time in a time machine called “The TARDIS”. He takes companions around, and he’s from an extinct race called “The Time Lords”. The Doctor can also regenerate when he’s about to die, but at the same time, regenerating is very dangerous and changes his appearance. So there are multiple versions of the Doctor, the most recent being Matt Smith’s incarnation. Matt Smith is the actor playing the most recent Doctor.
It’s a very science fantasy show, but I love it. I prefer Tennant’s Doctor, but my first and favourite Doctor is still Eccleston. The show’s not for everyone, but I recommend it.
you make it sound so appealing.. Didn’t know the Doctor was an alien. I thought he was human and the story was a variation of the book “The time Machine.” A must read by the way… Anyways, What happened to the Time Lords? and Why do you think Matt Smith will “die”?
Ah yeah, the Time Machine was a good book.
The Time Lords died in a Time war with one of the recurring enemies in the show called the Daleks. If you’re talking about the previous incarnations of the Doctor, they all “died” in order to become the new Doctor.
It’s just a theory that I think they’re going to try and end the series with Matt Smith, mostly because they’re revealing the Doctor’s real name at the end of this season. Now, the show has been basically kept using the same joke since it began: “Hello, I’m the Doctor” “Doctor who?” “Yes, exactly”. And now they’re revealing his name. This is a huge thing. And it should be kept for the LAST incarnation of the Doctor. By all rights, there are supposed to be 14 incarnations of the Doctor, and we’re only on the 11th. So I just have a feeling that the director, Steven Moffat, wants to end the show with Matt Smith as the final Doctor. It’s kind of annoying me. Moffat has good ideas, but he rushes them too quickly. He could’ve kept the whole River Song, a character in the show, secret for a very, VERY long time, but he didn’t, and it ruined a genuinely great character for a really weak payoff.
But I digress, it’s a good show. It has it’s ups and downs, but I like it. The reboot kind of romanticized it a little too much, and the older series was REALLY campy, but it’s enjoyable. And you can’t go wrong with a giant blue Police Box that can travel through all space and time.
I love reading your messages, on this topic because you sound so passionate about this subject. I feel like I could continue talking about this subject for a long time and enjoy every minute of it, but I think we should move on slightly before this get’s stale. Too much of a good thing…. right?
What would you do if you could go back through space and time? where would you go?
seriously? Dr Who?
Doctor Who fans are sometimes a little bit crazy…
